Turkey is one of…oh, I forgot they changed their name – let’s start over…

Türkiye is one of our favorite destinations. It is full of history and beautiful nature, but it is still relatively cheap, has great food, and is absolutely bombastic for a road trip. Also, I don’t think there is a country with nicer petrol station toilets!

We have been in Turkey on two separate occasions (technically three, but we will get to it). The first time was during Covid-19 in April 2021, and the next was when we drove through Turkey (screw it, I’m writing it the wrong way all the time) on our way from the UAE to the Czech Republic. We haven’t explored many parts yet and won’t try to avoid Turkey if we ever plan another big road trip.

We started in Izmir and took a car around the west coast visiting Ephesus, Kaş, and Pamukkale. We continued in Cappadocia and finished by visiting Istanbul.

Part of our road trip from the UAE to the Czech. We drove through the east, visiting Van and Ani. Later, we crossed the whole of Turkey along the coast of the Black Sea.

Not bored to death yet?
